Innovative Marketing

Designing a poster enhanced with Augmented Reality (AR) experience and that makes use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the yearly Gogbot festival organised by Planetart in Enschede.

The Client

During the third year of my study, I had to complete a minor that took about 5 months. I decided to take on a new challenge and explore graphic and visual design, an area I'd always been interested in but had doubt in my abilities. I collaborated with a local non-profit organization, Planetart, to create a poster for their yearly festival, Gogbot. Although it was ultimately not used in their marketing campaign due to a conflicting contract with a marketing company, it was well received by the new and old Creative Director of Planetart and featured as an art installation during the festival.

Concepts

PlanetArt, the client, utilizes dark backgrounds with vibrant colors, maintaining simplicity and playfulness in their Gogbot festival marketing. Their main emphasis lies in neon lights within a dark, punk-cyberpunk fused setting, along with retro imagery. To align with their theme, I have developed four distinct concepts: 1. a post-apocalyptic sci-fi panel with a brutal grunge aesthetic, 2. evoking a retro vibe with space invaders in pill shapes, 3. a colorful explosion adorning torn punk posters, and 4. the deconstruction of the Gogbot logo into falling pills.

Augmented Reality

While exploring design styles and trends, I realized that a traditional poster wouldn't suffice, given the festival's futuristic themes and the growing importance of video marketing, especially with the rise of Mixed Reality marketing. During my visual research, I discovered Artificial Intelligence's (AI) potential to create trippy visuals in particular the open-source software Warpfusion, aligning with the festival's AI and Drugs theme. Despite not having created Augmented Reality (AR) experiences before nor made use of this particular AI, I decided to incorporate AR into my poster to create an immersive experience and use AI to speed up the workflow. After a lot of experimentation I brought my AR concept to life. To further enhance the experience, I edited royalty free music from White Bat Audio. Social Media Content

In addition to the posters that were hung around the city, it's also crucial to promote festivals on social media. Consistency is key in this regard, so I've created digital content that aligns with the Gogbot theme and complements the poster design. I've produced two different videos. The first features falling pills covering the poster design, aligning with the drug theme, while the second incorporates glitching effects for a cyberpunk look.
